PW: Welcome to the Woodpile, pupper! Tell us about Cyan.

CYAN: My human name is Alex. I feel comfortable sharing this since I used to stream on Twitch with my real name before becoming a pup. I'm 24 and have been a pup for a year.

PW: So what kind of pup is Cyan? How did you get that name?

CYAN: Cyan is a soft, cuddly sweetheart. He's full of love and cares about everyone. I chose my name to reflect my passion for light blue colors, of which cyan is one. It sounded better than Pup Blue but also sounded close to a human name—Ryan. I’ve always liked that name as an alternate, but never used it. As for my last name, Skyhound, this came to be when I was making my character in a game called “Palia.” It was just the first thing to hit my brain, which also sounded cool. So I went with it, and it works!

PW: How did you get into pup play?

CYAN: I was introduced to pup-play very informally. I had seen them online but never thought much about it, thinking it may have been just a form of cosplay or adjacent to furries. Over time they kind of began to grow on me with their presence, and I debated becoming one to express myself with almost a sense of anonymity. One of my exes got a new hood around this same time, and I tried it on to see what it was like. And well… Here we are!

PW: When did you first identify as a pup?

CYAN: I have an exact date—May 2nd, 2023. The moment I established myself as Cyan, I reserved my name by creating a few accounts with it. So account creation date reminds me—though I know this date off the top of my head now.

PW: Is Cyan a good boy or a bit of a brat? Somewhere in between?

CYAN: Haha! Well, as much as he will say he's a good boy, he is certainly in between. Cyan lives for the praise and comfort of others, but he also pushes limits to get there sometimes. Let's just say... If he wants something, he typically tries to get it. But he shows plenty of affection and gratitude in return!

PW: Are you part of a pack? Loner? Stray?

CYAN: Technically, I am a stray. I surrendered my tag to my ex-trainer for reasons I wish to exclude. However, I do have interest in someday joining or forming a pack. For now, I am self-collared/unowned. I have desire to find an alpha who could collar me, but I want to make sure it's a good bond and not with some random pup who I don’t even know. As a wise pup once told me, it is best to have an organic bond. So, I await the moment to come, and don't force anything.

PW: Are you single, or are you spoken for?

CYAN: I currently have one partner—Damien Wolf J. (also known as Ray Red Wolf.) We are polyamorous, and I have been working on a bond with another pup in addition to Damien. I love my polyamorous lifestyle, and hope it continues to grow.

PW: Are you out? Are you out as a pup?

CYAN: Yes and yes! I came out to my mom when I was 13, and I came out as a pup to pretty much everyone sometime last year (2023.) Even Mom knows about that!

PW: Where do you call home? Are you a longtime resident or just passing through?

CYAN: At the time of this interview, Sarasota, Florida is my home. I was born and raised here, which is uncommon. As hard as it is to admit and do, I am pulling my roots out of Sarasota and moving to Central Florida in less than a month. However, I have not secured a place yet.

PW: Do you have a vibrant LGBTQ community where you live? How do you fit into it?

CYAN: I'd say that Sarasota is certainly full of gays. I don't interact with them nearly as much as I travel and interact with the pup community, though! I find myself in Tampa and Orlando more often when it comes to pride and pups.

PW: What were you like as a child?

CYAN: Before I was 12, I was devious. I often acted out due to bullying in school. I started to ignore what the bullies said, but it still got absorbed and hurt a bit. By the time I reached high school, I had matured enough to be a caring listening ear.

PW: For the fun of it, what’s your astrological sign?

CYAN: I'm quite glad this was asked! So, if Cyan were to abide by this, both sides end up being the same sign—Taurus! (Human birthday April 24th, pup birthday May 2nd.)

PW: In your human life, are you more of a dog person or a cat person?

CYAN: It’s kinda hard to say since I grew up with both, but I would say I'm actually more of a cat person! I loved my dog, Gem, when I had her, but she was too high-energy for me to handle all the time (seeing as she’s a heeler.) Cats are much more laid back, and are more likely to cuddle in your lap!

PW: Does your pup nature ever emerge when you’re not in a pup headspace?

CYAN: Absolutely! I actually don't have a good and proper connection to pup headspace… It's something I have had desire to work on for some time now, but keep neglecting. Cyan is an extension of my individual. When I am Cyan, I am just expressing myself further. So Cyan is a part of my everyday life, whether I'm conscious of it or not.

PW: Let’s say you’re at a huge pup event having the time of your life. You walk by two pups deep in conversation, and you hear them mention your name. What do you imagine they’d say?

CYAN: They'd probably say something about how short or sweet I am. I'm constantly giving hugs and belly rubs when I'm out at events. But I'm also a pocket pup—I'm only 5'4"!

PW: Okay, you just won my heart! Finish this sentence: I just love it when…

CYAN: …you give me cuddles and scritches!

PW: Imagine they were to create a new ride at Disneyworld named after Pup Cyan. Describe the experience.

CYAN: Well, I'm personally a fan of coasters, so it would probably be a rollercoaster ride! But like… With a weird track that makes it feel like you’re wagging a tail the whole ride.
