I want to give three shout-outs.

First, to my amazing husband/handler, Phil. I love you so much. Thank you for choosing to go on this journey with me.

Second, my Omega pup, Coaster. Thank you for letting me be your Alpha, joining my pack as my first pup, and navigating this journey with me.

Third, my Beta pup, Twister. Thank you for choosing me as your Alpha, and letting me be a major part of your discovery of the pup kink/community. I love you three so much. I'd be lost without you all.

PW: Welcome to the Woodpile, Scout! How did you get that name?

SCOUT: Bark bark! It's a combination of three things. My human name is Scott, so I literally only had to change one letter! Second, my pupsona is a German Shepherd, so I'm always scouting and sniffing around! Third, I'm a tall pup, 6 feet 4 inches, so I can generally see over everyone's heads and "scout" out the room.

PW: Why a German Shepherd?

SCOUT: I chose a German Shepherd because they're very strong and protective dogs. I'm an Alpha pup, currently with an Omega and Beta, and I would do anything to protect them. That mix of Alpha mentality and how protective I feel over the pups in my pack led to identifying with German Shepherds. Also, they're adorable dogs!

PW: How long have you been a pup? How did it happen?

SCOUT: I've been a pup for about a year and a half now and it's changed my life. It happened when me and my husband (also now handler) needed to spice things up a bit. Both of us had expressed interest in the pup kink previously, and I decided to bring up the idea of buying a pup hood. That evening, I immediately ordered one, and when it arrived and I put it on for the first time, I felt so free. I also felt the sexiest I had ever felt in my life. It was an amazing feeling. I immediately knew after our first play session that it was the missing piece of my life, and my husband immediately fell into the handler role and loved that aspect of it too. We both knew it was the kink for us and a community we belonged in. The rest is history. We've been loving this new chapter of our lives!

PW: Where do you hang your hood? Is it a good community for pups?

SCOUT: Currently I live on the Central Coast of California. I am planning on moving to either Los Angeles or San Francisco next year though, which I'm so excited about! Where I live currently, there aren't a lot of pups. There are a few and they're very nice, but it's a tiny community. In that regard, it can be a bit lonely for me. I travel a lot currently for that reason. It's a big reason why I'm getting ready to move to a bigger city. I'm definitely craving being surrounded by a larger community of pups.

PW: Where did you grow up? Did you have a good childhood?

SCOUT: I grew up on the Central Coast of California. It was a great place to grow up. If not, I would have moved away long ago! There were some rough patches and darker parts that I'm sure many people can relate to, but I would say I had a good childhood. And the things I went through growing up helped shape me into a stronger adult and more loving pup.

PW: When not in your pup headspace, what sort of things do you like to do? Hobbies?

SCOUT: My handler and I are big board gamers! We have a collection of over 100 games currently. Apart from that, we like going on hikes, relaxing at the beach, and going wine tasting. I love making fun cocktails and trying out different recipes. I'm currently a student finishing up my degree in professional writing and rhetoric, so I'm looking forward to my future in that field!

PW: What ethnic background? Does your cultural identity shape who you are both inside and outside of your pup hood?

SCOUT: I am very white. Primarily Spanish and Irish with some French, Swedish, and Norwegian. My cultural identity is not a large part of who I am. I do love Scandinavian art, so I'm not opposed to a little pup redesign one day. Hmmmm...

PW: You win a contest, and your prize is a guest cameo on a popular streaming show. What show would you pick, and what role are you gonna play? Why?

SCOUT: I would pick the show Hacks because I think it's one of the funniest shows currently streaming. I think I would wanna play the role of a pup. Hacks is such a queer-focused show, and very accurate to queer culture. If I could be the face of the pup community in that cast, I could die happy. I'm not exactly sure what Scout would get up to on the show, though. Probably just sniffing, humping, and causing chaos as usual. Hey, do you think I should audition? New career path?

PW: Definitely! And I see a Hacks spinoff in your future! Pups on the Strip! You like? Whatโ€™s the funniest thing thatโ€™s ever happened to you while pupping out?

SCOUT: One time, my handler left me alone before a play session to get into the headspace. During those ten minutes, I tipped over our dirty clothes hamper and made a mess all over the room. There was dirty laundry everywhere. When he came in, he got genuinely angry at first and had to get himself back into the headspace. I clearly upset both the husband and handler. It was pretty hilarious. I simply had to flash him my puppy dog eyes. My plan worked, and I got all the punishment I was hoping for. MIssion accomplished.

PW: Do you have any fetishes or kinks within pup play?

SCOUT: I'm big into feet and smelly socks. I love having feet put all over my body, in my mouth, being stepped on, smelling them, etc. Same with socks. I love giving socks a good huff or having fresh, sweaty socks shoved into my mouth as a gag. There's something about the look and feel of feet along with the smell and texture of socks. It gets this pup going! Woof!

PW: Do you go out in public in your pup hood? If so, how does that feel? Ever get any negative comments?

SCOUT: I mostly wear my hood to pup events or gay bars. Outside of those areas, I have only worn my pup hood twice in public. I've gotten some questions and curious looks but never any negative comments. The only comments I've ever received were positive and supportive, which is amazing! Another reason I love living in California. I feel so safe here.

PW: Are you out in your human life? As a pup?

SCOUT: I am out as both a human and pup! I've been out and proud since high school. I've always had amazing support from my family and friends, along with growing up in a relatively liberal area. I'm one proud gay man/pup!

PW: Are you a cat or dog person? Or something else altogether?

SCOUT: I love both! Currently, I only have one pet cat. Her name is Donna, and she is one of the loves of my life. I am hoping to get her another sister or brother eventually. My handler and I would want to get one or two dogs when we feel like our lives will allow it. Funny enough, I've always wanted a German Shepherd or German Shepherd mix. So, I'm hoping I can adopt one soon!

PW: You've mentioned your handler. Who is this mystery man-pup?

SCOUT: I am married to my amazing husband/handler, Philip. We have been together for over nine years, and it's been the best years of my life. He supports me in every way, and I can't imagine having a more loving and incredible husband/handler. I love you, Phil! Bark!

PW: Whatโ€™s your โ€œtypeโ€?

SCOUT: I'm typically attracted to more average body types than thicker men. I prefer some body and facial hair. Beards are a major turn-on for me. When it comes to personality, I'm usually drawn towards softer or more "shy" men. So, if you are a soft-spoken, slightly thicker man with a beard, hit me up! Awooo!

PW: Are you funny? Life of the pack?

SCOUT: I like to think that I'm funny. I make my friends laugh a lot, which is a good sign. Sometimes I think I have a very specific sense of humor that doesn't hit with everyone, but luckily it does with my friends. I think I'm too quiet and shy to be the life of the pack. My handler is usually the one to break down those social anxiety barriers for me and help me feel more comfortable in social settings. However, once I warm up and start feeling loosey-goosey, I think I can be a pretty damn good time!

PW: Whatโ€™s your favorite food? Do you cook?

SCOUT: My favorite food is anything Mexican or Italian. I love pretty much every dish from both of those cultures' cuisines. I love to cook! When I first met my husband, he did all the cooking, but he eventually taught me. Now, I really enjoy cooking. Some of my favorite evenings are spent in the kitchen, cooking yummy food, sipping on a glass of wine, and listening to music. Call me Chef Scout!
